Co-founder, Clubernance
Clubernance was co-founded by Leigh Hingston, Founding Director of VenueWorks and former CEO of Wollongong Golf Club. His advisory is grounded in fifteen years of being accountable for the outcome, not just advising on it.
As CEO he ran a $16M operation with six revenue streams, two venues, and 150 staff, carrying full board accountability across financial, people, compliance, and capital outcomes in a licensed environment. He led the amalgamation of Wollongong Golf Club and City Diggers Club, which unlocked 98 gaming entitlements and $7M in assets, and delivered more than $10M in capital projects with no programme late or over budget.
Read Leigh's full profile →Australia's registered clubs — RSLs, bowling clubs, golf clubs, leagues clubs, surf life saving clubs, and more — operate under a unique regulatory framework that generic governance software doesn't understand. Between the Corporations Act, the Registered Clubs Act, and state-specific liquor and gaming legislation, a typical club faces hundreds of compliance obligations each year. Most still manage this with spreadsheets, paper forms, and shared drives.
Clubernance was built specifically to solve this problem. Every feature — from the pre-loaded compliance calendar to the one-click board pack generator — is designed around the way Australian clubs actually work, not retrofitted from corporate governance tools.
